New tricks:
More wonderful fun. We're starting to try giving Karen food. she hasn't
been at all interested in the usual "starter foods" (banana, avocado,
anything on a spoon, etc) so we just keep experimenting. So far, she likes
chocolate (I only let her lick it a few times, but it's clear she's my
daughter) and carrots seem to hold promise although she didn't eat much.
Karen LOVES chicken bones--we strip a chicken bone clean (this is Ari's
specialty) and give it to her. Motor skills: she has successfully
pulled herself up to standing, but doesn't do it much and she doesn't have
the balance to maintain it. She's starting to be able to propell herself
accross the floor, slowly and with much frustration, on her stomach. Sort
of a very inefficient "commando crawl" type thing, or maybe like an inchworm.
She's able to get herself from sitting onto her hands and knees, but she
doesn't know what to do then except fall down on her stomach. I'm starting
to childproof the house. The first thing that was really clear was that
we didn't have a good space on the floor for her to play, so I moved the
rug out into the salon and that's where she is most of the time now.
We've got this bandana
we use to play "where's Karen" and one day I tied it on her head. It wasn't
so cute, really
OK, maybe a little
cute.
Cute crooked face.

Karen loves the toothbrush,
and she usually gets the right end in her mouth, but she doesn't do much
brushing.
